Chapter 18: Cairns & the Great Barrier Reef

What a great decision to visit the Great Barrier Reef - we have not yet made it out to the outer reef, but the colors, the varieties of fish, the corals, what a joy!
Today is Bernard's birthday and we had intended to try for the outer reef but were exhausted. So instead he celebrated by getting a haircut, going full speed round a go-kart track, swimming with the kids at a lovely town lagoon in Cairns and eating monster mangoes!
Tomorrow we leave for Hamilton Island and then onto Brisbane.
